Circe Sturm hails from the great state of Texas, where she first started acting in her hometown of Houston at the age of 9. Since then, she has gone on to study acting at the University of Texas at Austin, the State Theatre School of Acting, and to train extensively in Meisner technique with Richard Robichaux at The Robichaux Studio. She works primarily in film and commercials but also loves doing improv, voice over, and most especially live theatre. Some of her favorite Austin theatre credits include Bambi Krill in My Dinner with Bambi, Mary in The Language Archive, Claire in Proof, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Amy Lee Fullernoy in Lone Star, Babbette in Jessica Kubzansky’s premiere of Inventory, and The Re-Set Project with Asaf Ronen and the Lucky Chaos Theatre Company. Circe can be seen in commercials for Progressive, Retail.Me.Not, Southside Market and BBQ, Purina Cat Chow, St. David’s Hospital and Chevy. Her recent film credits include Ilyanica, Megan and Dan, and Love Land.

In her day job, Circe is a professor of cultural anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin, the same place where she once earned her undergraduate degree. In addition to acting, she loves traveling, especially to Italy, where she is a dual national and has spent several years living in both Sicily and Tuscany.

After finishing her studies at the University of Washington in Business and French, Cynthia moved to France where she lived and worked for ten years. She and her husband returned to her native Texas in 1995 to start a family business and raise their two daughters. Her life-long passion for acting was kindled with evening acting classes whenever her schedule would allow. She has studied under the tutelage of many of Austin’s excellent acting coaches such as Carol Hickey, Marco Perella, Stephen Bridgewater and Babs George. Ilyanica is Cynthia’s film acting debut. Other recent credits include the short films Into Memory and A Bittersweet Sabotage, as well as some industrial/commercial videos.

When she is not working, Cynthia enjoys indulging in yoga, pilates, cooking and traveling – primarily to her husband’s hometown, Nice, France and its environs, especially nearby Italy.
